Project "Between Forces" - 17000 DKK

Between Forces explores the dialogue between the human body and its surrounding material. A female figure emerges from a single vertical beech trunk, partially compressed between two solid wood blocks at top and bottom. The body is neither imprisoned nor passive; it resists, adapts, and asserts its presence. Rough, untouched surfaces contrast with refined carved areas, highlighting the tension between natural form and human intervention. The figure symbolizes inner strength and resilience, captured in a vertical composition that emphasizes endurance and balance. Tool marks remain visible, preserving the memory of the carving process. Created in a limited timeframe and in direct contact with the public, this work embodies the dynamic interplay of pressure and emergence, containment and freedom.
