Artists 2019

We are proud to show the results of the Art Jam 2018. See and read about our amazing artists below!

Nishimura Naruo
Japan
Wood Sculpture

Do you remember Naruo? He participated at the Højer Art Jam for the first time back in 2004. In 2019 he came back again to participate at both Art Jam in Kolding and Højer, and he’s easily describable! Let’s call him a crock-wearing multi-talent. He’s spreading humor and joy around him with his always fun comments and good mood, he is playing the special Japanese guitar like a trained musician and he is swinging the chainsaw like a professional superstar. Oh, yeah… and he is wearing crocks – even on the dance floor! Did we mention that he is a REALLY good dancer?! His work requires a high level of precision, accuracy and mathematical skills, as he completely chopped up his trunk in small pieces before reconnecting them into a finished artwork puzzle. Thank you, Naruo, for your breathtaking result – and for being a joy spreader at the Art Jam.

Lkhagva George
Mongolia
Wood Sculpture

Lkhagva participated in the Art Jam in Højer 2018. We spend most of the week last year trying to understand how to pronounce his name. Without much luck, let’s be honest, we will probably never learn. So, we call him George. George is working with natural shapes and his amazing result for Højer 2019 is not to forget. He doesn’t have the most open personality, but if you get to know him a little bit you will quickly see, that behind his strong shell there is a very loving and warm person, who likes to joke and laugh and who has many visions and ideas. And if you ever get the chance of meeting George be sure to remember asking him to sing you a Mongolian song. That is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which we will never forget.
Thanks, Lkhagva George!

Jiang Long
China
Wood Sculpture

Jiang participated at the Art Jam 2019 for the first time. And what an experience for us! First of all, he brought his wife and their 3-month old baby. Do we need to mention that the baby drew a lot of attention with her cuteness?! On the surface Jiang is a quiet and easy-going artist. Maybe that is the reason why we all got a great surprise when Jiang one night suddenly started singing, what we would call, a Chinese rap-song. It was so much fun to see another side of Jiang and we are so thankful for getting the chance to meet him. Jiang’s works where loved by everyone and he is a concentrated and ambitious creator. His results at the Art Jams were stunningly beautiful.
Thanks Jiang!

Sang-heon Lee
South Korea
Wood Sculpture

Some of you might remember Lee, as he has participated at the Art Jam before. As always, his friendly attitude affected everyone around him, and his funny jokes where giving us great laughs. Lee knows very well how to start a party and he likes to invite everyone to join. His work discipline is as high as his skill to have a good time, and he is creating artworks with accuracy and symbolic vision. His artworks are always telling a story and if you don’t understand the message of his creations, Lee is always ready to talk about art and his stories. Furthermore, he is a fantastic singer. So, we can easily say that he is a storyteller – both with his hands when he is sculpting and when he is singing Korean songs. Lee is a wise and loving person, and we are very honored to having had the possibility of building a strong friendship with Lee.

Ana Paula Luna
Mexico
Wood Sculpture

Ana is a known face in Højer. Back in the days she made her very first wood sculpture at Art Jam Højer. She has visited us several times, and every time is a big joy. She has a sparkling and positive personality and she is spreading her lively humor and happiness around. She is helpful and always ready for new challenges. Her ideas are creative, and she is easily finding solutions when problems occur. Her artworks are always kind and happy, just like herself. We are happy that we got the possibility of spending time with Ana, who is truly lovable. Thanks for visiting us once again, Ana!

Julius Urbanavicius
Lithuania
Wood Sculpture

Julius has a strong and old connection to the Art Jam. He has participated MANY times and every time is a great pleasure for us all. He is a happy person, filled with wisdom and helpfulness. He likes to pass on his craft skills to younger generations and to spread happiness around him. At the Art Jam 2019 Julius made two works! A sculpture from the Hans Christian Anderson farytale ‘the woman with the eggs’ which is now located at local business in Hojer. The other work he made was a commissioned work of the viking warrior “Holger Danske”. The sculpture has drawn headlines in the Danish Newspapers and is truly a breathtaking artwork. Julius, thank you for always bringing your great mood to the Art Jam!

Mr Kas
Portugal
Mural

Mr Kas participated at the Art Jam in Højer for the first time in 2019. He was invited to make murals on big plates. He made two different murals on four individual plates. The murals both have a nature theme, and the artistic outcome is very satisfying. The murals will be donated to the local kindergarten where they will pass on happiness and color to the kid"s daily life. Mr Kas was a fun acquaintance. He was a leaned-back and quiet person, but once getting to know him we saw that he had great humor and warmth. Mr Kas has a high work discipline and whenever he was missing we could always find him at his working place. Thanks, Nelson, for your participation at the Art Jam!

Jan Lastovicka - Czech Republic & Saila Karoliina Hastrup - Finland
Art with Children - Mural

Jan and Saila participated at the Art Jam in Højer in 2018, where they created a beautiful mural together.
This year they realized the mural-part of our Children Art Project. Their way of working with the kids was admirable - Jan’s patience when communicating with the kids combined with Saila’s direct interaction with the kids, made them motivated to becoming a part of the creation process. The kids really enjoyed spending time with Jan and Saila.
Jan and Saila are both partners in art projects and privately. This year they left early, making the kids in the Children Art Project very sad. But! They left for an acceptable reason as Jan’s wife gave birth to their first child during the Art Jam. This was also our first time to receive a baby during the Jam. We are proud and happy to announce that Jan’s first child “Pihla Karoliina” is our Art Jam Baby! Thanks you for your great efforts at the Jam, Jan and Saila. And thanks for “giving” us an ART JAM BABY! Congratulations!

Bent Schulz
Denmark
Art with Children - Photography

Bent was a part of our art jam children art project. He is a local artist who was in charge of the photo part, cooperating with the kids in documenting the different work processes. Bent helped the kids understand their common surroundings and open up their creative thinking. It was truly a pleasure to meet and work with Bent, who always has a fun comment and lots of smiles to share!

Gleb Dusavitskiy
Russia
Art with Children - Wood Sculpture

Gleb participated at previous Art Jam’s in Højer and he became a well-known face at the Jam. This year he made a breathtaking artwork in Kolding. In Højer he was realizing the sculpture-part of our Art with Children. Gleb used his positivity in his work process with the kids. He included the kids in all processes of the project and gave them an ownership of the finished artwork. They loved his easy-going and relaxed attitude and the other artists enjoyed his funny jokes. Gleb is a very talented artist and he is a helpful and good person. We are very happy that Gleb was a part of the Art Jam once again - thank you for your positive vibes, Gleb!

Jenia Filatova
Moscow
Photography

Jenia participated for the first time at the Art Jam in 2019. Jenia is a very talented and very special young art photographer with a very clear vision of her ideas and how to achieve them. She is not afraid of telling her opinion and she has an interesting personality. Her ideas lead to many interesting situations and stunning results. We met her professional, hard-working side, but were also lucky to get to know her fun private sides during the Jams. We learned that she is a very focused and hard-working artist, who is not accepting the next-best and we learned that she is full of jokes and joy and that she LOVES pistachio ice cream!
Thank you Jenia, for becoming a part of the Art-Jam family.
